That sinking feeling...

One day Jesus told his disciples to get into a boat and cross to the other side. However, getting to the other side was not easy due to a storm and the disciples start panicking because the boat was filling with water. They were sinking...

They ask Jesus a question - "Don't you care that we're dying?"

The answer: "Why are you afraid? Don't you have faith?" What an answer to such a serious and genuine question! That's the last thing I want to be asked when I'm sinking...

1. A lack of faith leads you to the conclusion that Jesus doesn't care. The reason for your sinking feeling - that all hope is lost - is not a sign that God doesn't care. When you get that sinking feeling, receive the care of Jesus. Jesus cares.

2. When you don't have faith, you come to unhealthy conclusions about your future. The disciples had concluded that they were going to die. Your conclusions about your future depend on your faith. When you get that sinking feeling, re

member, there is hope for your future. Your future is blessed.

3. When you don't have faith, you go with the flow of the majority, but when you have faith you are able to stand up and be counted. There were twelve men panicking but one man wasn't. When you get that sinking feeling because you feel you don't have what it takes to stand against the tide - remember this: Even when the world seems to be against you, God is for you. Stand and be counted.

4. When you don't have faith your words are full of negativity. When you have faith your words are filled with authority. "(Jesus) rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." Mark 4:38. You're meant to rebuke what you're afraid of. God has given you authority to control things that are

controlling you. Your words have authority.

When you get that sinking feeling, remember, you're not going to drown. You'll get through this. How? By faith.
